Name badges for shops, showrooms and store groups.
A retail badge is a piece of your brand worn at chest height by every person on the floor. It has to match the brand book exactly, survive a Christmas season, and be reordered for seasonal staff without a fuss.
Design your badgeRetail is the sector where brand consistency matters most and seasonal hiring hurts most. Here is how to get both right without paying setup four times a year.
Getting your brand colour right
This is the single thing retail customers care most about, and the one most likely to go wrong.
We print in CMYK inks. Your brand guidelines are probably written in Pantone, and your screen shows RGB light. Those three do not map perfectly onto each other, and a vivid brand colour on screen can print slightly duller.
What to do:
- Send us your Pantone codes. Put them in the file or in the enquiry form. We match Pantone as closely as CMYK allows on solid flat colour.
- Send vector artwork, not a website image.
- Ask for a free sample if you are ordering 20 or more, and check it against your brand book in daylight before we run the rest.
Gradients and blends have real limits in a small print area. If your logo depends on one, tell us early and we will be straight with you about how it will come out. Our artwork guidelines cover this in full.
Seasonal hiring without paying setup again
Retail hires in waves: Christmas, stocktake, mid-year sale. Badge suppliers who charge setup per order make that expensive.
With us, setup is charged once and never again on a reorder where only the name changes. Your artwork stays on file, so a batch of Christmas badges in October costs the badges and nothing else.
The bigger saving is ordering to a price break. The steps are at 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 badges. A store group placing one order of 60 pays $9.00 a badge. The same 60 badges ordered as six lots of 10 pays $10.00 each.
If you can forecast a season's hiring even roughly, order it in one go with a few spares.
Fixings for retail uniforms
It depends on what your team actually wears.
- Branded uniform shirts or polos: magnetic. It protects garments you are paying to replace, and badges move between shirts across a week without adding holes each time.
- Aprons, tabards or workwear: pin clips are fine. The badge lives on the apron and never touches anything personal.
- Staff in their own smart clothes: magnetic, without question.
Magnetic adds $2.00 per badge. Our fixings page has the full comparison, including where magnetic is the wrong answer.
Multi-store rollouts
If you are badging a chain, a few things make it go smoothly:
- One artwork, many names. Every badge is printed individually, so names, roles and store names can all vary within one order at no extra cost.
- Pack by store. Tell us and we will pack each store separately so nothing has to be re-sorted at the other end.
- Nominate one approver. Multi-store orders stall at proof approval more than anywhere else.
Our standard shipping rates cover a single address. For a split delivery across stores, get in touch and we will quote it.
Before you order for a store group
Worth ten minutes with your brand guidelines open.
- Pantone codes supplied, in the file or in your enquiry
- Vector logo, not an image from your website
- Free sample requested if ordering 20 or more
- Fixing matched to what staff actually wear
- Spare unnamed badges included for new starters
- Order consolidated to hit a price break
- One named person approving the proof
What store and brand managers ask us.
Not covered here? Phone us and we will talk it through.
Ask usCan you match our exact brand colour?
We match Pantone as closely as CMYK printing allows on solid flat colour. Send us your Pantone codes, and if you are ordering 20 or more badges ask for a free sample so you can check it against your brand book before the full run.
Do we pay setup every time we hire seasonal staff?
No. Setup is a one-off $30 that is free from 10 badges anyway, and it never applies to a reorder where only the name changes. Your artwork stays on file.
Can one order cover several stores?
Yes. Names, roles and store names can all vary within a single order at no extra cost, and we will pack each store separately if you ask. For delivery to multiple addresses, get in touch for a quote.
What does gold or silver backing cost?
It slides with volume, from $5.00 per badge at 1 to 4 badges down to $0.50 per badge at 100 or more. It reduces the print area to 71mm x 19mm.
How long before Christmas should we order?
Allow about two weeks: a proof within one working day, 5 to 7 working days from your approval, plus courier time. For a large seasonal order, earlier is better. See our delivery and turnaround page.
Do you do reseller or account pricing?
Yes, if you order regularly or resell to your own clients. Get in touch and we will sort out pricing that reflects the volume.
